We collect only what a given action needs. If you subscribe, we hold your email address and which updates you asked for. If you register interest in the coalition, we hold your name, email, the constituency you chose, and any note you add. If you ask to be notified about comments on an article, we hold your email against that article.

If you submit a comment or a scholarly correction, your name, your declared credentials, your affiliation, and any verification link you provide are public, because scholarly contribution should be attributable. Your email on a contribution is required but kept private. A salted hash of your network address may be stored to limit abuse, never the raw address.

Your email is used to send what you asked for and nothing else: the newsletter you confirmed, replies or new comments on an article you chose to follow, or a message about the coalition you registered for. The newsletter is double opt-in, so we send one confirmation link and add you only once you click it.

We do not sell your details, we do not share them with anyone unrelated to running the site, and we never publish an email address. A registration or a subscription is not an endorsement, and we do not present it as one.

Every message we send carries a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing works without logging in. You can stop article notifications the same way. If you want your details removed entirely, or want to know what we hold, ask and we will act on it.
